ABOUT ME

I am a qualified and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (PgDip) and Occupational Therapist (BSc (hons), HCPC registered).  I am also a fully accredited member of BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists).

 

I started my career as a professional in 1998.  Since qualifying I have been working as a mental health professional in the NHS with people who have a variety of mental health problems, including anxiety disorders and depression, alongside many others.

 

My experience includes providing therapy in Mental Health Day Units working with  people experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems. I provided individual therapy (Occupational therapy, Computer therapy and CBT based therapy) as well as therapeutic group work. I facilitated groups such as the Art and Craft group, Community Art group, Media group and Play reading groups, Relaxation skills group, Anxiety Management group, Creative writing group, Creative Project group and Horticulture Group. I have worked in an Early Intervention in Psychosis team, which provided CBT and care coordination for young people experiencing first time psychoses, including the initial stages of schizophrenia.

During my time working full time in the NHS I studied several modules from the Psychology Degree with the Open University.

 

After my Post Grad Diploma in Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I worked in Primary Care as a High Intensity Practitioner under the IAPT  (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) initiative, providing CBT for people experiencing anxiety disorders and depression.

 

After having my children, I now work privately providing a confidential, warm and effective CBT service in the Allendale area of Northumberland.

 

My interests include art and craft and I have a BA (hons) degree in Illustration.
